Shaky Steps on Unsteady Ground
About three years ago, I was given the gift of time and space, to blow at my own discretion, in Lydd on Sea, on the edge of Dungeness. I've visited half a dozen times over the last 12 years, the last before this year being a month before the C19 Pandemic erupted. Strange to think I was introduced to John Christopher's 'Empty World' walking through Winchelsea the day before tramping across the stones to the power station.
This visit was a quiet time, where I tried to document in ink and audio the wind and howl and hum in front of the shack where I spent 48 hours watching the old power station and waiting for the small gauge train to come back again.
I came back to this as this summer I visited again, and the next post will be a companion piece.

Field recordings from Dungeness, June 2022, using contact and omni-directional microphones.

I was also thinking about this release just the other day and had another listen. Very inspiring
